• BSO ensembles and other great musicians come to play in the schools of SAD 9 and SAD 58 during the school year.

• The POPS makes donations to support school music activities.

• The POPs has arranged for band students to travel to Orono to hear the BSO's Youth Concerts.

• Kingfield POPS offers free admission to the POPS concert for youth age 17 and under, and affordable ticket prices for families.

• The POPS creates opportunities for talented young musicians to perform for appreciative audiences at the POPS concert, at the Festival of the Arts, and at POPS fundraising events through the year.



In 2007, two days of POPS-initiated music programs reached about 1500 children in SAD 9 and SAD 58. The internationally acclaimed Kruger Brothers, along with two regional ensembles, the Abbott Hill Ramblers and the Franklin Fiddlers, encouraged young people to enjoy music, take up an instrument and have fun playing.

Kingfield POPS is pledged to provide the Western Maine region with a sustainable annual music festival that strengthens the community by providing exciting live music experiences for diverse audiences and enrichment for area youth through music education, performance opportunities and festival involvement.
